JUNCTION ONE EXPANDS CUSTOMER OFFER

A new Homebase store opening this weekend (13th October) in Junction One’s £80m leisure and retail park brings its tally of new retail space going live this month to over 55,000 sq ft representing new investment by developers CUSP and the Kennedy Group of £7m.  The national home and DIY retailer joins newly opened restaurants The Red Panda and Brewers Fayre on the 80 acre site which is also home to Ireland’s premier and largest international factory outlet, Junction One.  Laser Electrical also opens in two weeks time bringing the total number of part and full time jobs created across the four new tenants to 100.

Commenting on the expansion Philip Weir, Projects Director, CUSP, explains, “Junction One’s factory outlet offer has been an excellent catalyst for growth across the whole site.  Already operating are discount food retail Lidl, Seasons Home and Living, Burger King, a state of the art car wash and petrol station.  The new Homebase will feature an extensive showroom area and complementary garden centre.  UK restaurant chain Brewer’s Fayre comprises 180 covers and focuses on providing family meals at competitive prices whilst the well known Red Panda brand will serve a comprehensive menu of chinese food served with style.  Laser Electrical will complete the latest opening and will offer its full range of electrical goods.”

“We are also delighted with the progress on the rest of the site with work well advanced on a 90 bedroom Express by Holiday Inn Hotel.  Planning permission has recently been granted for a six screen cinema and ASDA has submitted plans for a major superstore,”  continued Mr Weir.

“From the outset our aim has been to create a unique mixed use destination in Antrim attracting visitors from throughout Northern Ireland and beyond.  In particular we are keen to develop a night time economy which will encourage people to stay longer in the area and make a greater contribution to the local tourism and economic portfolio.  Having already attracted over 7 million visitors to the factory outlet centre, Junction One in its entirety is sure to be an increasingly important driver for growth for Antrim and its environs.”
