Crowds ‘Clocked In’ for 5am Store Opening at Junction One

Cutting edge high fashion retailer, Clockwork Orange welcomed around 5000 customers to their first ever designer outlet store which opened earlier this month (Oct 6th) at Northern Ireland based outlet centre Junction One.

The store’s unique ‘Beat the Clock’ initiative was a bargain hunter’s dream with 5am early risers paying £5 for every single item of stock in the store. Shoppers arriving at 6am paid £6, 7am customers were charged £7 per item and 8am arrivals handed over £8. The price went up every hour, on the hour and latecomers arriving at 1pm didn’t get away with £1 per item purchased, but with a 24 hour clock in operation were charged £13.

Sam Morrison, MD of Ballymena based SVM Textiles and owners of the Clockwork Orange chain of stores was absolutely delighted with the response to this unusual sales promotion: “This was the first time Clockwork Orange had undertaken such an initiative and customer reaction was phenomenal. We worked closely with the Junction One centre management team and had a team of 50 working throughout the Friday night to prepare the store and during Saturday and Sunday we had to re-stock the rails and shelves several times. This was undoubtedly our best ever store opening during 10 years of retailing and we’re delighted with the progress our new Junction One store is making. We’re looking forward to a close working relationship with Junction One and to a very successful future together.”

John Drummond, Junction One asset manager said, “We’d like to congratulate Clockwork Orange on what has been their most successful store opening to date.  We are used to large crowds at Junction One but this was truly exceptional and it clearly demonstrated that Clockwork Orange and Junction One together are an attractive and winning combination.”

Mr Drummond continued, “Some of our other key retailers and restaurants opened early and benefited from the bargain hungry crowds. NIKE and Next together with new to Junction One, fashion footwear outlet Staccato, had excellent sales and were the top performing Staccato store in the UK for that week.

Junction One cafes and restaurants also opened early and Starbucks, Café and Restaurant Paul Rankin and Spud-U-Like all reported fantastic sales.”

Junction One’s new Clockwork Orange store will offer a full range of cutting edge brands for men and women at up to 50% off RRP. Labels include Diesel, Italian giant REPLAY, Miss Sixty, Hilfiger Denim and Firetrap.
